NBA Correct Score Bands: How Often Each Points Range Comes Up
Banding NBA scores turns an unpriceable correct-score market into something you can reason about. Here is how often each home and away points range comes up, and what it's worth.

Correct score in basketball sounds absurd until you band it. Nobody prices an exact final score sensibly, but home 110-119 against away 100-109 is a market you can reason about. It rewards the same pace-and-efficiency thinking I use on totals. If you've come over from my tonight's basketball picks page, this is the background file: how often each pairing of points bands lands in the NBA.
The headline answer is that across 6,605 games from 2021-22 to 2025-26, the most common pairing was home 110-119 v away 100-109 at 9.2%, fair odds 10.90. No single cell dominates, and both sides finish in the same band in 25.2% of games. The whole grid has also slid upwards so far that the early seasons in the data look like a different sport.
Period 1The grid's heat sits around 110-119 for both sides
This heatmap splits every recent game by home band down the side and away band across the top. The hottest cells cluster in the middle: home 110-119 v away 100-109 at 9.2%, home 110-119 v away 110-119 at 8.8%, and home 120-129 v away 110-119 at 7.8%. The corners are thin, with both teams under 100 at 3.2% and both on 130 or more at 2.7%.
Look at how the grid leans towards the home side. Home 120-129 v away 110-119 came up 7.8% of the time, against 6.0% for the reverse. That is home-court advantage showing up as a shift in scoring bands rather than as a win percentage.
All 25 cells sum to 100%. Final scores include overtime.
View the data: home points band vs away points band
| Away Under 100 | Away 100-109 | Away 110-119 | Away 120-129 | Away 130+ | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Home Under 100 | 3.2% | 3.9% | 3.2% | 1.3% | 0.5% |
| Home 100-109 | 4.7% | 6.0% | 7.6% | 3.4% | 1.6% |
| Home 110-119 | 4.5% | 9.2% | 8.8% | 6.0% | 2.0% |
| Home 120-129 | 2.5% | 5.0% | 7.8% | 4.5% | 2.5% |
| Home 130+ | 1.0% | 1.6% | 3.3% | 3.3% | 2.7% |
The diagonal, where both teams share a band, adds up to 25.2%. So most games finish with the sides in different bands, and that matters for anyone drawn to a tidy both-110-119 ticket.
Period 2Fair odds for the busiest band pairings start at 10.90
The table turns the grid's top cells into prices. Fair odds are simply 1 divided by the share. So home 110-119 v away 100-109, which landed in 606 games, is worth 10.90 before any margin. Home 110-119 v away 110-119 follows at 11.39, then home 120-129 v away 110-119 at 12.75 and home 100-109 v away 110-119 at 13.24.
| Home | Away | Games | Share | Fair odds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 110-119 | 100-109 | 606 | 9.2% | 10.90 |
| 110-119 | 110-119 | 580 | 8.8% | 11.39 |
| 120-129 | 110-119 | 518 | 7.8% | 12.75 |
| 100-109 | 110-119 | 499 | 7.6% | 13.24 |
| 110-119 | 120-129 | 398 | 6.0% | 16.60 |
| 100-109 | 100-109 | 397 | 6.0% | 16.64 |
| 120-129 | 100-109 | 327 | 5.0% | 20.20 |
| 100-109 | Under 100 | 311 | 4.7% | 21.24 |
The top of the board is crowded. Home 110-119 v away 120-129 at 16.60 and both teams 100-109 at 16.64 are effectively the same price. The choice between cells like that should come from the matchup (pace, rest, who's missing from the rotation) rather than from history. A bookmaker's margin sits on top of every line here, so a quoted price only interests me if it is clearly longer than the fair figure.
Period 3Winners usually reach 110, losers usually stop short
The dumbbell splits each game into winner and loser rather than home and away. The winning team scored 120-129 in 30.6% of recent games and 130+ in 18.4%, while winning with under 100 happened in only 3.2%. The losing team most often finished on 100-109 (34.2%) or 110-119 (28.0%).
View the data: winning and losing score bands
| Winning team | Losing team | |
|---|---|---|
| Under 100 | 3.2% | 24.7% |
| 100-109 | 14.6% | 34.2% |
| 110-119 | 33.2% | 28.0% |
| 120-129 | 30.6% | 10.4% |
| 130+ | 18.4% | 2.7% |
For band betting, the winner's score is the wider and harder half to call. Losers cluster tightly, but blowouts push winners up into 130+ and stretch the range. Home 130+ v away under 100 is the extreme case, at 63 games and 1.0% of the sample.
Period 4Both teams on 110+ went from rarity to nearly half
This chart is the reason I won't use old data for this market. In 2002-03, both teams reached 110 in 4.1% of games and both stayed under 100 in 47.8%. By 2025-26 the lines had swapped places: both teams 110+ in 45.9%, both under 100 in just 1.9%. From 2002-03 to 2010-11, the single most common cell was home under 100 v away under 100 at 38.5%.
That leads to the main caveat for the whole study. Scoring has climbed steadily, so every share in the grid drifts from season to season. These are historical frequencies, not a system. That's why the grid uses only 2021-22 to 2025-26 rather than all 30,930 games.
View the data: both teams 110+ vs both under 100
| Both teams 110+ | Both teams under 100 | |
|---|---|---|
| 2002-03 | 4.1% | 47.8% |
| 2003-04 | 3.1% | 57.0% |
| 2004-05 | 5.9% | 39.8% |
| 2005-06 | 6.2% | 40.7% |

| 2014-15 | 7.7% | 27.9% |
| 2015-16 | 11.9% | 19.8% |
| 2016-17 | 17.7% | 13.2% |
| 2017-18 | 20.6% | 12.4% |
| 2018-19 | 34.1% | 5.4% |
| 2019-20 | 35.6% | 4.2% |
| 2020-21 | 36.5% | 3.1% |
| 2021-22 | 30.2% | 6.3% |
| 2022-23 | 46.3% | 2.3% |
| 2023-24 | 41.2% | 2.5% |
| 2024-25 | 41.6% | 2.9% |
| 2025-26 | 45.9% | 1.9% |
My read is to weight the recent window heavily and, when a matchup is genuinely balanced, lean slightly towards the higher bands. The long-run drift on this chart has been upwards.
Full-time verdict
Home 110-119 v away 100-109 at 9.2% and both teams 110-119 at 8.8% are the base cases. Any band pick far from the centre needs a specific pace or injury reason behind it.
Compare any quote with the fair line, such as 10.90 for the top cell or 12.75 for home 120-129 v away 110-119. If there's no clear room above those figures, the margin does the damage.
Both teams under 100 happened in 47.8% of games in 2002-03 but only 1.9% in 2025-26. Only recent seasons belong in your numbers.
